Practicum Journey Phase 1

I am terribly sorry that I left this blog abandoned for two good months while my life was/is very happening. So many events and many pictures but so little time to update this blog. I wanted to update on Kejohanan Olahraga Tahunan (KOT) 03 for my IPG but I gave up since there are so many photos to go through :( when I say so many, they are REALLY a lot!

For the past month, from 13th April until 8th of May, I have undergone my first practicum phase at SK Lukut, Port Dickson. Initially, I was kinda, "mehhh, this too shall pass" with the hope that I wouldn't/shouldn't attach myself to anything/anyone from this school.

My dear, was I wrong! This school has given me such sweet experiences-- the admin was fine, the pupils were naughty (but I miss them a lot) (but still VERY naughty ok) (seriously ok), the practicum mates who were so silly, the kind teachers who helped us a lot, and the people (cleaners, canteen workers etc) there generally were good people. I was quite sad in the last week of school because I have already fallen in love with the school & pupils.

Here are some pictures I have taken with my iPhone mostly and only a few with my dslr. (I didn't bring my dslr often because I was already troubled with teaching and learning aids!).

WEEK 1

I had to wake up really early and make sure everything was settled. Matric card; checked √, name tag; checked √, record book; checked √! Kak Najaah and I started our journey as early as 6.40am as the school from our college is quite a journey. Enstek and Port Dickson is really far, I tell you and for one month, we survived! (but worth it!)

As soon as we arrived at the school, we thought that we were the only practicum teachers for our batch but actually there were another 6 more guys and 2 girls from another IPG in Seremban. I was quite shocked when I first entered the Principal's room and saw the room was full with guys! haha! One whole hour was for 'ice-breaking' kinda thing.

After that, we met our guru pembimbing and settled our timetable. I got year 2 class and that... marked the start of my journey as a practicum teacher.......

first day! the brightest smile I ever had in awhile :)
some programme by Calciyum? haha

while listening to the ceramah kesihatan that was held during curricular activity period. (yes)

with beloved seniors.

WEEK 2

On Monday this week, I already started counting days-- not believing how fast the first week has gone. This week, I have begun to get attached to my pupils.

Being an English teacher is definitely not easy. Proof:

I have written the words "true" and "false" very clearly on the chalkboard and explained to my pupils with visual aids but they still made mistakes. It seemed that they really have blocked their mental to understand English. Made me upset the whole day... :(

I was also surprised that most of the pupils never heard of "Little Red Riding Hood" before... but my mistake as well, I should've asked my 'guru pembimbing'. But oh well, lesson learnt!

After that, I always tried to plan my lesson that suit to their interest and their liking but not every time because I believe that my pupils need to know other things that they need to know!

gorgeous sunrise to Lukut. how could I not fall in love?

cuties.

with the talented/hardworking pupils for their action song performance.
In spite of that, there were times I felt like;

There were also times that my teaching plan didn't go the way I planned. One day, I couldn't use LCD projector for my lesson and I hadn't had any contingency plan so I was quite panicked but gladly I remembered I have practicum mates who can draw really well!

this, in around 10 mins? !!!!

teaching pupils to fold a mat for their curricular activity

We started doing murals together!

WEEK 3

That fast! Week 3 already? Uh?

acah-acah boleh lah? :3

We stayed back at school for the mural projects as school. Even though it was tiring, but we really enjoyed! Andddd, we could eat this LEGENDARY ice-cream!

Wow. Haven't had any in ages. Wow Lukut, thank youuuu!

with the mural that we (partially or...) did :p

finished our first guru pembimbing observation!

My first observation with my guru pembimbing went a little bit haywire but I was glad it was done.

Missing these little monkeys of mine, terribly. :'(

their work that I pasted! as a teacher myself, I feel proud and happy :)

with the seniors whom have helped us through out our practicum days!
WEEK 4

Last week of practicum. Honestly, I felt very sad that I had to leave the school but very relieved as well since no more lesson plans and teaching & learning aids to be done after this week was finished!

On Tuesday in the last week, I had my final observation, and alhamdulillah it went well, it wasn't excellent but on my preference, it was okay. I knew where I stand so, it was fine with me :)

And after that, we continued doing the mural.. well basically.. just helping. :p

I look extra chubby here but meh! and my practicum mates at the back ... -___-"

Before the very last week, I already felt that I would be having a major withdrawal from this school & this practicum phase that I have been enjoying. And what, very beautiful sunrise in the morning from Enstek to Lukut! WHY!

Just breathtaking.
I had my last final observation with my 'guru pembimbing' and it was my last Language Arts class. I decided to do the crafts with them and they were really enjoying it. Arts really could occupy my pupils! (and this was the only time I brought my dslr, but couldn't take many photos as well since I was occupied in monitoring them!)

ah I miss this child already! seeing his bright & cheerful face made me happy!

:')

After the school ended, two of my pupils came to me because they knew the next day, Friday, would be my last day. (Just to see me). :')

"Smile, bagi nampak gigi. Macam Miss."
"Taknaklah, gigi saya rongaklah Miss."

and they ran away. haha. aww. <3

Then, Kak Najaah and I decided to go to Port Dickson Waterfront before practicum ended.

The last day.
:(

I am also very thankful that I got kinda cool and silly practicum mates whom never failed to tease me every morning I came to school! They got on my nerves at times, but they made me laugh!

these silly guys who were my practicum/table mates-- brightened up my days!

We had a mini farewell jamuan, handled by Kak Liyana. :)

silly.

That's it. The end of my practicum phase 1. Hoping I'll meet these people again in my life, inshaAllah and hoping I'll meet good people like them so I'll remember of them :)
